It may not be Bon Temps, but cast and fans of the hit True Blood series will meet up in Orlando, Florida, the weekend of November 13 - 15, 2009.

Often, TV shows based on a popular series of novels don't make the transition well from print to screen. One that has is the hit HBO series, True Blood.

Based on the alternate-world city of Bon Temps, Louisiana, created by writer Charlaine Harris, True Blood has had two wild seasons and has left the fans craving more. For those who can't wait until the third season of the show, enter the upcoming True Blood convention in Orlando, FL.

True Blood Convention Details

The event is scheduled to take place at the Florida Hotel and Conference Center at the Florida Mall the weekend of November 13 through 15, 2009. Several stars from the show will be in attendance signing autographs and posing for photos with fans, and will also be participating in panels, answering questions about the show from those in attendance.

There will also be a marketplace, several evening parties, including the "Fangbanger's Masquerade Ball" on Saturday night, which the show's stars are scheduled to attend, and a costume contest.

The convention is produced by EyeCon, a company which has also produced fan conventions for shows like Supernatural.

True Blood Stars That Will Be in Attendance

Several main actors from the show will be at this convention to hang out with the fans. So far, the line-up includes:

  • Nelson Ellis – Ellis plays Lafayette Reynolds, a human short-order grill cook at Merlotte’s. During the two seasons of the show, his character has also had a side job of dealing in both porn and vampire blood, which has hallucinogenic and psychedelic affects on humans.
  • Allan Hyde – Hyde played the vampire Godric, the sire of Bon Temps’ resident vampire sheriff, Eric. Godric was the sheriff of Dallas, and attempted unsuccessfully to mitigate a peaceful co-existence with the anti-vampire organization Fellowship of the Sun.
  • Ashley Jones – Jones played Daphne, a new waitress at Merlotte’s during season 2. Turns out she and Sam had more in common than just a love of food service. She was also hiding another secret that almost proved deadly to Sam.
  • Todd Lowe – Lowe plays Terry Bellefleur, an ex-military man now working as a short-order cook at Merlotte’s. He is also a cousin of Andy, a member of Bon Temps police force.
  • Sam Trammell – Trammell plays Sam Merlotte, owner of Merlotte’s. A close friend of Sookie’s, he reveals to her in season 1 that he isn’t quite human, he’s a shapeshifter, able to take the form of any animal. He also has a connection to Maryann, the town’s newest visitor in season 2…one that almost destroys the whole town and himself, as well.

How to Obtain Tickets

This EyeCon True Blood convention offers several types of passes and tickets. The weekend passes start at $80 per person, which covers general admission for all three days, as well as access to the celebrity Q&A sessions and the dealer’s room. The Silver and Gold weekend passes offer reserved seating as well as the Q&A and dealer’s room access ($110 and $135, respectively), and the Platinum pass offers the above, along with access to the Saturday night masquerade ball, and a free autograph/photo op with the star of the ticket holder's choice, among other goodies, for $295.

The convention also offers the option of single day admission tickets, which just offer access to the Q&A panels and the dealer’s room. These are priced at $10 for Friday and $40 each day for Saturday and Sunday admission.

Tickets and passes may be purchased online at the EyeCon website, along with any special events tickets (the parties and Saturday’s celebrity banquet) and advance tickets for autographs and photo opportunities with the celebrities.

Events like EyeCon’s True Blood convention are a great way to meet the stars of favorite shows and are also a great way to meet fellow fans.
